National Transplant week

9th - 15th July 2007

The UK Transplant Donor Bus parked in the centre of Cambridge

National Transplant Week is week of publicity and events aiming to actively promote organ and tissue donation for transplantation, and celebrate the lives that have been saved and transformed by the gift of organ transplant.

On Monday 9th July the "UK Transplant Donor Bus" was parked in Cambridge City Centre, between Marks & Spencer and Boots. More than a hundred people signed the Organ Donor Register after talking to members of the Addenbrooke's Transplant Team as well as transplant recipients and living donors.

On Tuesday 10th July and Thursday 12th July there was a stand on Addenbrooke's Concourse. This had a display of photographs and stories from transplant patients, detailing the dramatic differences the gift of an organ has made to their lives.

The latest edition of Addenbrooke's Matters magazine is also focussing on the work of the Addenbrooke's Hospital transplant team. Either pick up a copy of the magazine on the hospital concourse or visit the article online by clicking here. (This will open a new window.)
